Management Team

Don Mathis

Don Mathis, Chief Executive Officer

Don Mathis is passionate about Kinetic Social. "My drive is to build Kinetic into something of distinction," he says, "a company where our team thrives, our technology innovation is ahead of the curve, and our clients are excited and rewarded by our offerings." He cites Kinetic's 2012 growth rate and client retention as evidence that the company is tracking to this vision.

Don helped create the Kinetic concept in 2010. "The idea of creating an enterprise around smart data and linking it to the social grid is a powerful, centering vision for the founding team," he said, adding, "like nothing any of us had done or seen previously in digital advertising, this 'big smart data' approach yields an undeniably impressive multiplier effect on social marketing effectiveness."

Previously, Don was the CEO of digital ad network Epic Advertising. The company grew to $200 million in annual revenues under his watch before being merged into Connexus (backed by Oak Capital Partners, Idealab and Insight Venture Partners) in early 2010. Don also served as COO of Small World Sports, the first online fantasy sports company, which was sold to The Sporting News (backed by Paul Allen's Vulcan Ventures). He also had stints with the turnaround firm AlixPartners, McKinsey & Co., and Accenture, where he was a programmer.

Outside of his "day job", Don has served as a Naval Officer on active and reserve duty, including post-9/11 mobilizations at Ground Zero and in the Middle East. He began his Navy career as a P-3 anti-submarine aircraft Flight Communications Officer, and he served with the United Nations in Cambodia and in Bosnia.

Don's other community service experience includes having worked with the independent democracy watchdog organization Freedom House, and serving on the not-for-profit boards of the educational organization Roads To Success, the non-partisan public policy group Third Millennium, and the documentary film company Magellan Productions.

Don graduated with honors from Harvard Business School and Vassar College, where he was awarded the S. H. Chen Zen prize for best written thesis. He is a member of the Young Presidents' Organization (YPO), and has served on the boards of private companies Unified Media, Affinity Labs and Mystic Entertainment Corporation. Don holds a Commercial Pilot's license with multi-engine and instrument ratings.

Charlie Nowaczek

Charlie Nowaczek, Chief Operating Officer

Charlie Nowaczek joined Kinetic in 2012, having spent 20 years as an operating executive, management advisor, and consultant specializing in strategic program development and execution. He led a broad range of complex, multi-disciplinary initiatives, including new business launches, organizational transformations, integrations and a variety of technology/systems solutions for mature organizations as well as for fast growing start-ups. At Kinetic, he focuses much of his attention on harnessing and focusing the energy of its people.

Charlie is a graduate of Occidental College and holds a Masters in Urban Planning and Policy from the University of Illinois, where he worked with complex mathematical algorithms to predict things like traffic patterns. Now the algorithms he oversees optimize advertisements. When not solving problems and helping drive Kinetic forward, he enjoys hanging out with his family, surfing, mountain sports, and building electronics for electric guitars.

John Findeisen

John Findeisen, General Manager

As the GM of Kinetic Social, John wakes up every morning thinking about the new challenges the day will bring.  Working in the online Social Ad space is never routine or monotonous. Every day there are new companies, products, platforms, websites, ideas and shifting social trends.  John's job is to make sure Kinetic Social is ahead of these challenges and is prepared to help its clients understand the Social landscape and effectively reach their Advertising goals.  This is accomplished by leading the Campaign Management teams in delivering high performance results for our clients, continuously building and improving our core operational efficiencies and developing our strategic initiatives.  "Kinetic is an exciting and fast moving place to be right now", says John,  "we see the results of our hard work every day through our clients successes"

Prior to Kinetic Social John was at Epic Advertising where he ran the day to day Display, CPA and Mobile Ad Operations, the Program Management Office and various other strategic initiatives.

Prior to his online advertising days John was a Director at the electronic trading firm Instinet where he was responsible for all of their online properties including - Equity and Currency trading sites, online Regulatory Reporting, Corporate and Investor Relations sites and the Instinet Classic Senior PGA event site.  In the mid 1990s John started out at the Reuters news agency developing first generation web solutions which were the genesis to some of today's Thomson Reuters online products.

John spends his free time traveling the world, skiing, scuba diving and meeting new people.  He is passionate about sports and continues to pursue his goal of attending at least one live event/game/race/match for all sports around the world.

Chris D'Orazio

Chris D'Orazio, EVP, Sales

Chris D'Orazio has extensive experience serving Fortune 1000 advertisers in the digital media and advertising agency fields, and has managed a number of top performing sales teams. He joined Kinetic in 2011 as the company's Executive Vice President of Sales and a member of the founding team. Chris is responsible for managing sales efforts in the US and internationally for social, mobile and display, helping to increase sales, and working internally on Kinetic's market strategy. Chris' teams manage relationships with agencies and direct clients, and build strategic partnerships with key partners in the digital media space.

Prior to joining Kinetic, Chris was the SVP of Sales for Traffic Marketplace (TMP), a ComScore-ranked premium ad network. At TMP, Chris oversaw the strategic sales team, and helped lead the company's expansion into new territories including the Midwest and United Kingdom, and also into new opportunities in social and mobile.

Previously, Chris was the Director of Online Sales at Nielsen Business Media, leveraging Nielsen's data to target across all profiles in Nielsen's portfolio, increasing online revenue each year within the travel and performance verticals. Chris served with Nielsen Media for four years. He also has experience as an Account Manager with One Media Place, and began his career as a media buyer with Horizon Media.

Chris is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island.  In his spare time, Chris likes to travel with his family, enjoys sports climbing and playing saxophone (trying, anyway), roots the Ravens and Yankees onto victory, is an unapologetic foodie, and volunteers at God's Love, We Deliver (a non-profit organization that prepares meals for people who can't prepare for themselves due to illness).

Michelle Schiano

Michelle Schiano, EVP, Marketing

Michelle Schiano has joined Kinetic Social as head of marketing. Previously, Michelle was the Vice President - Marketing for Out-of-Home media company, Eye Corp for over five years. She came to Eye Corp in 2007 from Nielsen Business Media having served as the Marketing Director over the Travel & Performance Group of seven business to business publications as well as their associated websites and events. Prior to that time, Michelle was at Advertising Age magazine, building up the conferences division and increasing revenues by nearly double within the marketing department. Michelle began her career in the marketing department of the National Football League. Michelle has an MBA in Marketing and Management from NYU's Stern School of Business and a Bachelor's Degree in English from Boston College.

Michelle is an avid traveler and counts riding an elephant in Thailand and diving the Great Barrier Reef among her great bucket list moments. Even more exciting, she was married in June, 2013 to Mike Mongulla. Their two dogs are working on cohabitation. His: Bogey. Hers: Bowie.

Nate Armstrong

Nate Armstrong, Vice President, Sales - East

With a decade of digital media experience, Nate brings a diversified and comprehensive background to Kinetic Social. Nate launched his digital career on the agency side, where he was the lead interactive media planner for direct response specialist, ID Media, under the IPG umbrella. Nate then joined WeightWatchers.com as a member of their Sales & Marketing team. By trade he was an Account Executive, but his duties often bled into other divisions such as creative, content, marketing, account management and operations. Nate was later recruited to join leading ad network, Traffic Marketplace, where he emerged as the top sales contributor for a number of years. His success and passion eventually lead him to take on a leadership role as Director of Sales. Nate also began to see the value of big data and emerging media technologies. With his experience expanding beyond display media; to video, mobile and social, Nate quickly became the "go-to" for his clients when they needed a truly integrated program.

Nate was particularly drawn to social media and the unique, lifetime value it provides to consumers and businesses. Due to his passion and proven track record around the social media space, he was recruited as one of the founding members behind Kinetic Social. Since joining the team, Nate has taken on the role as Vice President of Sales, sitting in the New York office. Despite being in a management role, Nate is a true "player-coach" and actively takes the lead on key accounts. He is a genuine believer in the philosophy of "leading by example".

Nate is originally from California, but in large part lived and worked in the New Jersey/New York area. He labels himself as being "bi-coastal" and if you get the chance to meet him, I think you'll agree he fits that bill. He has the hustle and work ethic of a New Yorker, but the demeanor and calmness of a Californian.

Nate first attended St. Peter's College, where he had a short stint as a Division 1AA Linebacker, and later transferred to the University of Delaware, where he graduated with a degree in Philosophy.

Outside of work, Nate loves to spend time with his family, dogs, follow his favorite local teams (Yankees, Giants, Knicks, Rutgers), break it down on the dance floor (so he thinks), watch Zombie flicks and take Motorcycle trips. As a matter of fact, he's combining his passion for motorcycles, technology and social media and is in the middle of developing a social application that will be available on iPhone, iPad, Android devices as well as Facebook. Stephen Blake

Stephen Blake, Vice President, Ad Ops & Campaign Management

Stephen joined our team at the beginning of 2012 charged with the task of building and leading our social advertising capabilities. He works closely with our technical, data, and product teams to ensure that our ad products and delivery are cutting edge, with the world's best optimization and strategy. He leads our campaign management team of awesome problem solvers and masters of social media.

Before Kinetic Social, Stephen was an early employee at Adaptly, as part of the team responsible for campaign management and accounts.  He joined soon after completing an MBA from Georgetown's McDonough School of Business. He has worked in social media for 10 years and on most of the continents (there's still a few he's hoping for).

When he isn't working, he builds bikes, reads books, eats barbecue, and sails as much as he possibly can.

Stephen Dybsky

Steve Dybsky, Vice President, Sales - Central

Steve has been a member of the Kinetic Social leadership team since the company's inception and currently serves as the Vice President of Sales, Central. Prior to Kinetic, he held leadership roles within the technology startup and media space with organizations such as Traffic Marketplace and Specific Media, where he helped launch and grow the central region into one of the most profitable for each company. Previously Steve worked at Modern Luxury Media, where he oversaw the most successful magazine launch and website rollout in the 15 year history of the company; and at J. Walter Thompson where he handled account management and new business responsibilities for brands such as Kraft, Nabisco, Oscar Mayer, Blockbuster, Motorola and Salton.

Outside of Kinetic Social, Steve serves on the board for Chicago HOPE, a non-profit organization he co-founded which provides college scholarships and mentoring for need-based youth in the Chicago area. Steve has also been philanthropically involved with The Art Institute of Chicago, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Off The Street Club and Habitat for Humanity. Steve is actively involved in the Chicago startup community and serves as an advisor to a number of Chicago's growing technology startups and incubators.

Steve graduated from Villanova University with a degree in marketing where he was also a member of the football team. Steve is completing his MBA at The University of Chicago's, Booth School of Business with concentrations in entrepreneurship, finance, strategic management and managerial and organizational behavior. In his free time, Steve enjoys the outdoors, staying active and spending time with his family.

Jack Hanlon

Jack Hanlon, Vice President, Product Development & Management

Jack Hanlon is a founding member of Kinetic Social and started both its Social and Display departments. He now serves as the Director of Product, leading the team in using data and testing to develop cross-platform engagement, optimization and analytics products for brands and agencies.

Jack's experience spans across several industries but is rooted in data-oriented product creation and strategy. At 19, Jack was designing equities arbitrage systems on the NYSE with Walter J. Dowd, moving on to resource management systems with

Mercury Engineering in Ireland and then developing analytics & strategy for Better World Books.

He got into advertising working on risk analysis and systems for Google on the AdWords product and moved on to creating automated risk solutions for The Epic Media Group.

Outside of his work with Kinetic, he works on strategy with nonprofit Empowerment Health on improving women and children healthcare in Afghanistan. He has also ghostwritten speeches read on Bloomberg.

Jack is pursuing an M.S. in Business Analytics from the NYU Stern School of Business and has a B.A. in Music from the College of the Holy Cross. He lives in Montclair, NJ and can be found playing guitar in NYC or getting in trouble doing some overly ambitious DIY project.

Brendan Doyle

Brendan Doyle, Vice President, Engineering & Application Development

In the online ads space, and social in particular, technology never stands still.  As Vice President, Engineering & Application Development for Kinetic Social, Brendan ensures that we are ahead of the curve.  He manages the dual task of always experimenting and pushing our platforms to be the best available, while taking advantage of the new integration opportunities that arise every day from our partners and vendors.

Brendan uses his extensive knowledge of online advertising operations and technology to bridge the gap from concept to product.  He leads our team of software developers, ensuring that Kinetic Social has the expertise on hand to seize any new opportunity.

Prior to Kinetic Social, Brendan worked at Epic Advertising where he was responsible for building and maintaining the platform behind one of the largest private ad networks.  In addition to his years of work in online advertising Brendan has held positions creating web platforms across several industries, including finance, insurance, internet dating, and e-commerce.  He brings to the team over a decade of deep experience in all aspects of web technology.

Brendan spends his free time travelling the world and enjoying the Canadian outdoors.  He keeps busy spending time with family, playing tennis, and trying his hand at various hobbies.

Megan Gall

Megan Gall, Vice President, Account Management & Advisory Services

Megan has been an integral part of the Kinetic Social team since its outset, leading our account management team and overseeing campaign performance. She heads up a team that strives to guide our partners down the path of successful campaign execution and remains focused on growing those valued relationships. Always eager to provide stellar service and results, Megan continues to seek out the most insightful audience and performance data for her clients.

Megan is impassioned by the digital space and its constant evolution. She enjoys always having to be a step ahead and constantly learn in order to succeed. Prior to Kinetic Social, Megan worked at Traffic Marketplace as their director of account management, primarily on their top ten network, and later into their mobile and social endeavors. 

Prior to Traffic Marketplace, Megan worked at Nielsen Business Media.  Megan managed both print and online initiatives at Nielsen, and was the first account manager for their eMedia initiatives, focusing on the travel, performance and real estate verticals.  Megan also managed the Nielsen data on business to business initiatives, optimizing campaigns across Nielsen’s network of b2b sites.

Outside of Kinetic Social, Meg volunteers at local Manhattan animal shelters. She is actively involved raising awareness about animal rescue and breed discrimination. She also enjoys working with graphic design; her branding and logo initiatives have come to life in several NYC small businesses. At home, Meg loves to cook, teach her dog new tricks and hang by the ocean, surfing with her husband.

Jake Moskowitz

Jake Moskowitz, Senior Vice President, Business Development

Jake joined Kinetic in late 2013 to head Business Development, leading relationships with social networks, data partners, co-marketing partners, and channel sales partners. He works closely with the product, marketing, sales, and account teams to help ensure Kinetic always has access to the most advanced and effective capabilities to support client needs.

Jake joined from Nielsen, where he developed and oversaw deep partnerships with Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo!, and other digital leaders to enable ad targeting and measurement in support of brand advertisers. Prior, Jake was a Partner at MediaLink consultancy, where he advised and represented emerging digital media companies, investors, and Fortune 500 advertisers. He also spent eight years in consumer marketing and business development roles at AT&T.

Jake resides in Marin County, CA, has an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business and a BA from UC Berkeley. Outside of Kinetic, Jake lives to play basketball and go on adventures with his wife and identical twin toddler daughters.

Scott Hansen

Scott Hansen, Vice President, SaaS Sales

With 15+ years in the digital advertising space under his belt, Scott finally considers himself an industry veteran. After starting his professional career in public relations with the San Francisco Forty Niners and Electronic Arts, Scott moved into sales, finding success as a technical recruiter during the dot.com craze.

He migrated that experience into a successful start-up joining online lead generator sourceOut, Inc. as a co-founder and head of sales. Shortly after the sale of sourceOut to Red McCombs Media (now LIN Media, LLC), Scott left his post as VP of Sales to explore the budding Ad Network space joining then red-hot Specific Media. It was there that his passion for technology met with a yearning to solve the challenges surrounding digital brand advertising.

This drive continued to burn strong and gained momentum via a VP of West Coast Sales role with DSP Lucid Media (acquired by Videology Group 2013). Post acquisition, he most recently oversaw West Coast Platform (SaaS) Sales for Videology Group gaining continued exposure to SaaS sales.

In his new role leading SaaS sales for the rapidly ascending Kinetic Social, he looks to capitalize upon the convergence of programmatic media buying and the shift to in-house media buying by connecting the power of the industry’s top social advertising platform with brands seeking to maximize ROAS. In-house marketing teams gain real-time performance visibility, unbridled control and some of the most powerful reporting insights available. Scott believes it’s a digital world dominated by social interactions and effective social marketing is at the root of all successful advertising initiatives.

In his personal life Scott enjoys spending time with family, the wine country, cooking with Meghan, swimming in the bay and participating in the occasional triathlon. As a graduate of the University of Arizona, he harbors a deep passion for Wildcat basketball and all Bay Area sports teams.
